KLM’s industry-leading CNC punch press has the ability to produce repeatable, quality profiled flat pattern blanks to almost any shape repetitively and accurately in a highly cost-effective manner.
Latest technology
KLM’s commitment to investing in the latest technology for its precision engineering facility recently led to the purchase of a state-of-the-art Amada EM 3612 M11 NT complete with automatic load unload facility capable of processing a sheet size of 3 metres by 1.5 metres.
Powered by high speed AC servo motors, the Amada metal punching machine offers a 70% saving in power over a conventional hydraulic system, and, together with a 44-station turret, reduces the need for constant tool changing.
Sheets are automatically fed onto the sheet metal punching machine and processed at punching speeds of 1,000 hits per minute.
Prior to this process the parts are designed and programmed using our in-house CAD CAM design suite.
Specialist tooling can be competitively sourced to meet the exacting requirements of our customers, with tapping and specialist forms also available.
This equipment is fully automated to run 24 hours per day, 7 days a week increasing flexibility, productivity and output.
Why choose metal punching?
To cut sheet metal, there are two options: laser cutting or sheet metal punching.
Depending on part design and batch size, metal punching services are potentially a faster and cheaper method than laser cutting.
Typically, simpler profiles and larger volumes are ideally suited to punching.
Additional benefits are that sheet metal punching machines can generate simple formed features such as dimples, louvres and knock-outs, thus avoiding the need for additional operations.
